The Tomb That Silence Built

A raw poem about silence, isolation, and the longing to break free from the tomb built inside the self.

Don Sylvester

The silence is deafening. I want to yell and scream, but my voice has been lost to the world, drowned beneath it. I try not to look like a madman, but my chest feels heavy. I long for advice, yet my words fall silent whenever I try to ask.

Unable to break free, I am left alone with my thoughts and my pain, with no way to let them out. My wrists and ankles are broken, so I can neither fight nor run. I am trapped in my silence. The walls are thin, and the windows refuse to shut. Every word risks falling into the wrong ears.

My silence has become my curse and my tomb. Brick by brick, I helped build the tomb that silence made, and within it I lie at rest until one day I may break free.
